Wrestling: Three from Southern Section advance to state finals

San Dimas senior Angel Garcia will face senior Kody Klaus of Vacaville in the 125-pound finals at the CIF state championships at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield. Garcia took third at 119 last year and Klaus was fourth at 125.

El Modena senior Vinny Pisani will take on junior Kyle West of El Dorado Hills Oak Ridge in the 135-pound finals. Pisani was fifth at 135 last year and West was third at 130.

Temecula Valley senior Jake Meredith is up against Gilroy senior Hunter Collins in the 171-pound championship match. Meredith was seventh at 171 last year and Collins was third at the same weight.

After all the semifinal rounds, Clovis leads the team race with 116.5 points. Temecula Valley is the highest Southern Section team, tied for ninth with 76 points. Northview is 11th with 56.5 points and Santa Ana Calvary Chapel is 12th with 51.5.
