The score belied the struggle. Long Beach Poly pulled out a 60-47 overtime victory over Narbonne in the Southern California Division I Regional final at the Sports Arena.

The Jackrabbits, hoping to win a third consecutive state title, advanced by outscoring Narbonne in the four-minute OT, 16-3, after having not scored more than 15 points in any other eight-minute quarter.

Jasmine Dixon of Poly made it to the end without fouling out, and she played a huge role with her rebounding and scoring. By my count she scored eight in the fourth quarter and five in overtime, giving her 23 points. The Poly statkeeper reports that she had 21 rebounds and four steals. Don’t know if that will match up with the official scorer, but Dixon was clearly the key player in the game, and the fact that she missed the last 3:38 of the second quarter because of foul trouble is notable.

She picked up her fourth foul with 5:27 left in the fourth.
