Well, thanks to its 67-39 victory over Bishop Montgomery on Saturday at the Sports Arena, Santa Margarita will be playing for the state Division III title next weekend in Sacramento. And who better to talk to about the big accomplishment than former NBA player Mychal Thompson.

Thompson was in the stands watching his son, Klay, and the rest of the Eagles stick it to Bishop Montgomery, and, obviously, he was happy with what he saw.

‘I’m really proud of the boys and what they’ve done,’ said Thompson, who’s son is the leading scorer for the Eagles. ‘They’ve worked so hard to get here and it’s great to see they had this in them.’

I’ll have more on this one soon, I promise.
