New fence. New ad signs. New coach.

‘Newness’ is all over the Palisades baseball team. It is a team in need of a new beginning after last year’s coach was fired for allegedly ordering his pitchers to throw at Chatsworth hitters.

Mike Voelkel, the new coach who hails from Washington state, has some building to do. But he believes the Dolphins will be competitive; if not now, very soon.

‘All that matters is the ‘now,’’ Voelkel said. ‘We’re a bit inexperienced. Right now it’s about doing the little things. If we do that, hopefully the big things will take care of themselves.’
