Jrue Holiday played nearly the entire third quarter, allowing Campbell Hall to show St. Mary’s just how much better it is in the Division IV state championship game at Arco Arena in Sacramento. Holiday, pictured, scored eight points in the quarter and the Vikings turned a 14-point halftime lead into a 65-36 advantage heading into the fourth.

Holiday, who picked up three fouls in the first half, provided a highlight-reel dunk midway through the quarter, skying for an offensive rebound off a missed jumper by Keegan Hornbuckle and slamming it through the net with his left hand for a 52-30 lead.

Austin McBroom showed he isn’t just a one-half wonder either. On the possession before Holiday’s dunk, the freshman guard for Campbell Hall stole a pass at midcourt and laid it in at the other end. He now has a team-high 20 points after coming into the game averaging 6.9.

St. Mary’s, meanwhile, seems merely content to take mental notes the rest of the game. The Panthers were outscored, 23-2, since cutting the deficit to five points while Holiday was on the bench in the second quarter. Holiday did pick up his fourth foul late in the third quarter, but the cheerleaders could probably finish out the game and the Vikings would still win.
