Mater Dei sophomore guard Gary Franklin (pictured) picked up his third foul with 4:15 left in the second quarter, and that’s not a good development for Mater Dei. The Monarchs were leading, 24-16, over Archbishop Mitty when Franklin went out. It’s now 24-20.

Franklin was doing a terrific job distributing the ball without turning it over and also had six points.

Drew Gordon of Mitty just made his best move of the night, scoring on an inside shot.

Someone is going to have to step up at the guard position for Mater Dei to protect its lead.
