I mentioned in the previous post that the Ross Branson girls’ basketball team could go the entire fourth quarter without scoring and still win the girls’ Division V state final against San Luis Obispo Mission Prep.

Well, the Bulls went the first half of the fourth quarter without scoring, allowing Mission Prep to turn a 19-point crater into a 12-point hole. That was enough to get Branson’s attention, and Rachael Bilney converted a three-point play with 4:10 remaining in the game and then made two free throws with 3:45 left to push Branson’s lead back to 15.

From there it was all garbage time, and the Royals actually scored about 10 points in the last minute to avoid having one of the lowest scoring games at the state finals this decade.

--Editor Bob: This gives Northern California a sweep, so far, of all the girls’ state-title games, while Southern California has won all the boys’ games.
