The San Luis Obispo Mission Prep girls’ basketball team brings a 17-game winning streak into the girls’ Division V state final this morning at Arco Arena in Sacramento. Ross Branson, its Northern California opponent, has won 15 straight.

Mission Prep has seven seniors that play key roles, led by Leigh Yetter, who averages a team-high 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds. Another is Margaret Cowitz, whose father, Jay, was the coach of the team until his death in 2003 from pancreatic cancer. Cowitz scored a season-high 10 points in the Southern California Regional final.
