Baseball: Even the Cube would give El Rancho ‘proper respect’

Gave these guys some props about a week ago. But I’m feeling pretty generous, so I’m giving them some more props. Why? They keep winning (and dominating).

El Rancho’s record is up to 8-0 and 3-0 in the Del Rio League. The Dons’ latest beatdown: a 10-2 whupping of Pioneer on Friday, when Michael Espinoza threw a three-hitter and Ernie Aguilera and Aaron Flores each knocked in a pair. Why am I hyping the Dons so much-- well, at this point last season, they were underwhelming at 4-4.

A sidebar: We all know that ‘props’ is a slang term for accolades, popularized in the 1990s by rappers like Ice Cube or Biggie Smalls. But do you know the term is short for ‘proper respect?’ And, in the world of theater, it means something totally different -- a ‘prop’ is abbreviation for property.
