Track: Birmingham’s Jimenez gets early lesson at Trojan Invitational

Birmingham junior Waldo Jimenez, the anchor man of the Patriots’ sprint medley relay team, found himself all alone with 200 meters left before the finish line.

And it terrified him.

So Pats sprint coach Kertice Carruth wasn’t too upset when Jimenez was eventually overtaken by Taft senior Adrian Anderson with 120 meters to go at the Trojan Invitational at USC.

‘He came back to me and said ‘Coach I was out there by myself and was scared to death,’’ Carruth said with a chuckle. ‘This was a good lesson for him. It’s good he got it now instead of the [City] finals.’
