Nikki Speed almost lost the dribble near the beginning of first half, but resurrected it from a near rolling ball, then took it down court before whipping a sweet bounce pass to a teammate for yet another assist.

I’ve never seen Nikki play before, cuz, well, I’m usually in the office, editing my reporters’ copy, and they never show any girls’ games on TV unless they’re in Division I or II of the state finals. Marlborough isn’t in that group, but, perhaps, should be.

Anyway, she is an amazing talent. With four minutes gone in second half, the West’s 10-point halftime lead has grown to 11 -- 48-37 -- as Speed just made a three-pointer. Announcers say they have been very impressed by Nikki’s play tonight and, for what it’s worth, so have I.
