Aaron Northcraft took advantage of the short fence in center field here at Glover Stadium in Anaheim and belted a three-run homer in the top of the first inning to give Mater Dei a 3-0 lead over Placentia Valencia in the championship game of the Anaheim Lions tournament.

Tyler Rahmatulla then slapped a line drive into right center, the deepest part of the park, and by the time Valencia ran it down, Rahmatulla circled the bases for a two-run inside-the-park homer, giving the Monarchs a five-run cushion.

The center-field fence is only 342 feet from home plate, while the right-field foul pole sits at 359 feet and the left-field foul poul is 370 feet from the plate.

That’s what you get when you carve a baseball field out of a football stadium.

This is what you can expect to see when the Dodgers play Boston this weekend at the Coliseum -- except for the ‘wall’ in left field. Not familiar, check with Wally Moon.
