In just a little more than a month, the 49th Orange County All-Star game will name the 35 players for each team. So far, there has been a list of nominees for each team, but the only certainty his the coaches.

The two men who will lead these talent-laden groups are guys whose teams didn’t reach the pinnacle in 2007, yet seemed to get the most out of their teams: Jason Negro of Trabuco Hills and Brent McKee of Anaheim Canyon.

Negro, who will coach the South, helped Trabuco Hills reach the Southern Section Southwest title game, where the Mustangs fell in the final minute to El Dorado, 13-12.

North Coach McKee guided a Canyon squad that dealt with the adversity of their captain, John Boyd, missing the season after being diagnosed with leukemia a few weeks beforehand. Canyon finished 8-3.

The all-star game will be played July 11 at Orange Coast College.
