An aggressive driver -- bad.

An aggressive telemarketer -- really bad.

An aggressive dentist -- the absolute worst.

But aggressive hitting -- now, that’s good -- and that’s what is happening at No. 12-ranked Long Beach Wilson. ‘Our bats have been aggressive,’ said Coach Tim Rother. ‘That’s a big part of our philosophy. Just be aggressive.’

Now, that’s not a principle in let’s say the Socratic Method -- to swing aggressively. Ah, I digress. Sorry.

Anyway, the Bruins, who have scored five or more runs in 12 of their 16 games this season, boast a triumvirate of sluggers -- Marti Reed (four homers and .510 average), Jessica O’Donnell (15 RBI and .500 average) and Megan Guzman (.475 average and eight stolen bases).

Reed, by the way, was huge tonight with a solo homer to lead the Bruins to a 1-0 victory against No. 2-ranked La Palma Kennendy in a Michelle Carew tournament pool play game.

‘We’ve just started hitting the ball this year,’ Rother said. ‘Last season was totally different.’

Last year, Wilson finished 13-15 compared to this year’s 12-4 record. The Bruins are already a favorite to win the Moore League crown and are already 3-1 in league.
