Can anyone or anything stop San Luis Obispo Mission Prep’s Jordan Hasay?

OK, so the 2007-08 Gatorade girls’ cross country athlete of the year didn’t set any national records at Saturday’s Elks San Luis Obispo County meet like she did last year, but she did have another dominating performance in the 1,600 meters.

Hasay improved on her national-best season time in the event, crossing the finish line in 4 minutes, 42.50 seconds. And had it not been for an annoying headwind in one of the corners, Hasay probably would have beaten her meet record and personal best of 4:39.13.

Nevertheless, it was still another awesome performance by the distance-running star and she can be content in knowing no one else in the state is close to her times in the 1,600. The funny thing is this isn’t even her best event. It looks like Hasay will be shifting most of her attention to the 3,200 meters in the meets ahead. After all, she’s the two-time defending state champion in the two-mile.
