A very good result that came in earlier here at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays was courtesy Camilla Dencer of West Valley Christian in West Hills, who won the 800 meters in 2:09.61.

Her time surpassed the state’s previous best this season of 2:10.85, set by Christine Babcock of Woodbridge, and is No. 2 in the nation behind Chelsey Sveinsson of Dallas Greenhill (2:08.64).

The wind prevented a nation-leading mark in the girls’ long jump. Karyn Dunn of Diamond Ranch went 20 feet 4 1/4 inches, which is still the nation’s fourth-best mark under any conditions.

Some strong events are coming up, namely the boys’ and girls’ 100s and 400s.
