Thanks to a no-hitter Thursday by John Bossen of Claremont, pictured, in a 7-0 victory over Upland, the Baseline League race has become tight as a drum.

Los Osos was the logical favorite coming in. The Grizzlies began the season ranked No. 9 in the Southland by The Times, but it’s still Upland in first with a 7-1 record, followed by Alta Loma at 6-2.

Upland and Alta Loma haven’t met this season, but are scheduled to play April 28, 29 and May 1.

Los Osos? Well, the Grizzlies are just trying to get into the playoffs at this point. They’re in a three-way tie for fourth at 3-6, a game behind Claremont.

Who came up with those preseason rankings anyway?
