One of two things can happen after an exhilarating victory.

One, there can be momentum.

Two, there can be a hangover.

The hangover is what Compton-Centennial isn’t expecting after its last game, in which the Apaches trailed, 10-0, after the first inning only to come back to win, 19-17, against North Torrance. ‘Hopefully that win has us playing better and puts us in the playoff picture,’ said Coach Gerald Pickens.

The picture looks a little cloudy right now for Centennial (9-5, 1-3) which will play first-place Torrance (15-4, 4-0) on Wednesday, then again on Friday. Two victories over the Tartars could change the fate of the Apaches’ season, but are two victories possible? Pickens gave a one word response: ‘Definitely.’
