Saturday is Ralph Kiner Day in Alhambra

Ralph Kiner, Alhambra High alum and major league Hall of Famer, will be immortalized in the form of a statue Saturday during a special ceremony at Almansor Park.

Kiner, who graduated in 1940 from Alhambra, played most of his career with Pittsburgh but also played with the Cubs. Kiner, who will be in attendance, hit 369 home runs during his career, leading the majors seven times.

Alhambra, which is currently beating Schurr, 11-1 in the fifth inning, will host South East at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in a semifinal of the Roosevelt tournament.
