Softball: Montebello Oilers are quite slick right now

Ignore their lousy record. Don’t point out how they’ve been shut out five times this season. And forget about the 10-game losing skid which seemed, at one point, to leave them doomed. Just take a look at the standings and appreciate their chutzpah.

The Montebello Oilers, at five games under .500, have pieced together enough wins of late to be tied for first place with Keppel in the Almont League.

On Thursday, Montebello (7-12, 5-1) whipped up some venegance on Schurr, who beat the Oilers earlier this month. Let’s see if the Oilers can keep playing with some chutzpah when they meet up with Keppel one more time on May 1.
