Charter Oak, which started the season 1-6, is now in control of the Miramonte League after beating Bonita, 6-2, on Thursday.

The defending Southern Section Division IV champions were highly touted coming into the season. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune even ranked the Chargers ahead of Bishop Amat and Northview as the No. 1 team in its area to start the season. It took two months but Charter Oak is finally living up the expectations.

Clinching the title won’t be easy, however. Charter Oak’s opponent next week is a surging Diamond Ranch team that’s on a five-game winning streak. The late season push by Diamond Ranch has kept it alive and turned the race into a three-team sprint to the finish.

The Miramonte League promises to deliver an entertaining finish. One worth watching.
