Heading into its regular-season finale against Agoura this afternoon, Simi Valley as already achieved something no other team in Ventura County has ever done.

Following its 8-2 victory over Royal on Tuesday, the Pioneers not only clinched the Marmonte League title, but also posted a county-record 26th consecutive victory.

It’s an accomplishment the Pioneers should definitely feel good about it, but they can’t overlook the Chargers. Last time these teams met, Simi Valley escaped with a 1-0 victory. This time, however, Agoura has a chance at securing third place in league (if Newbury Park beats Royal) and the better playoff seeding that comes with the territory.

We’ll see what happens this afternoon.
