Track and field: Shepard shows off in discus and shot put

Let’s hear it for Arroyo Grande’s Brooke Shepard. The senior posted the top qualifying distance of 134 feet 6 inches in the discus and also finished first in the shot put at 41-8 during the Southern Section-Toyota Division II preliminaries at Moorpark.

She will probably win the shot put in the divisional finals next Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College since she’s been ahead of the competition all season, but it’ll be interesting to see if she can beat out Mira Costa’s Molly Roth for the division title in the discus.
