Well, so much for my predictions.

Behind a hard-nosed killing barrage headed by Scott Wolfson, ninth-seeded El Camino Real took a 2-0 lead in its Championship Division semifinal contest with fourth-seeded host Sylmar, thanks to a 25-23 victory in Game 2.

Wolfson and Mikel Du Boise allowed El Camino Real to keep the lead for the entire game despite a late charge by Sylmar. Unofficially, I have Wolfson down for eight kills and Du Boise seven.

I was really surprised the Conquistadores controlled the tempo of the game since Sylmar looked so strong in the first game.

The Spartans are now one game away from advancing to the finals at 5 p.m. Saturday at Cal State Northridge. Stay tuned...
