Those words personify Mike Cook, Latin teacher and coach of Mira Costa boys’ volleyball for the last 29 years. Cook has come, saw and conquered the competition, leading the Mustangs to 10 Southern Section finals appearances, five titles, 10 Bay League championships and 14 Ocean League titles.
Will Cook continue to conquer? Just ask Orange Lutheran which lost Friday night to Cook’s Mustangs in five brutally close games in the Southern Section-Toyota Division I quarterfinals. How brutal were they? Just check out these scores: 25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-12.
