For the sixth consecutive season, Chatsworth’s baseball team has been seeded No. 1 for the 16-team City Section Championship Division playoffs that begin Wednesday. Chatsworth (25-5) has reached the title game five consecutive years.

The Chancellors (25-5) are tied with Granada Hills Kennedy and Los Angeles Fremont for most City championships at seven.

At the seeding meeting on Saturday, the No. 2 seeding went to Narbonne (24-6), with Roosevelt (31-5-1) seeded third and Kennedy (20-10) fourth. That means Chatsworth could meet Kennedy in the semifinals and the bottom half of the bracket is without a top Valley contender, unless Cleveland steps up to take on that role. Valley teams have won 34 of the last 35 City titles.

The seeding meeting is still going on, so stay tuned for the complete pairings when all the debating comes to a close. Things are just starting to get interesting.
