One of the first people a ran into at Tuesday’s Southern Section-Toyota Division I second-round game here in Ventura County was a former colleague of mine, Tim Haddock. So, it looks like I’m going to have some company for this showdown between top-seeded Simi Valley and Trabuco Hills.

The Pioneers opened a 1-0 lead in the first inning after Amber Olive reached base on an error and moved to third when Jessica Soria got on base after another miscue. Olive scored on a sacrifice fly by Sam Fischer. Trabuco Hills had better cut down on the mistakes if it wants to stay close.
