An 11-run second inning propelled third-seeded Roosevelt to an 11-0 victory over Taft in a first-round City Section Championship Division playoff game Wednesday at East Los Angeles College. The game ended after 4 1/2 innings because of the mercy rule.

Frank Aguilar hit a three-run home run for the Roughriders (32-5-1), who used three pitchers to limit the Toreadors to one hit. Roosevelt moves on to play Cleveland, a 6-1 winner over San Fernando, in a quarterfinal game on Friday.
