Mira Costa just completed an amazing comeback, winning Game 5 of the Southern Section-Toyota Division I boys’ volleyball championship, 15-9, in the decisive fifth game Saturday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Mira Costa won the match, 18-25, 27-29, 25-20, 25-19, 15-9.

With its victory, Mira Costa beat the division’s top-seeded team and the No. 1-ranked team in the nation, according to Student Sports and Rivals.com. Mira Costa was ranked No. 9.

Newport Harbor, which won the first two games, had no answer for Steven Mochalski and junior Ian Satterfield in the latter stages of the match, but after a long rally on match point, it was Mira Costa’s Dylan Kordic who finally put the game away.

Mira Costa had led most of the fifth game after successive kills by Satterfield, a 6-foot-5 opposite, gave his team a 4-2 lead.
