In the Southern Section-Toyota Division I championship, top-seeded Newport Harbor has taken a huge two-game advantage over second-seeded Mira Costa Saturday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Newport Harbor took Game 1 by a score of 28-25 behind the play of Mark Liebermann, a 6-foot-5 outside hitter headed to UC Santa Barbara.

The second game was headed Mira Costa’s way as it made a four-point run mid-match behind the service of Stanford-bound Dylan Kordic to take an 18-15 lead. It even led, 23-20, but Newport Harbor, on the verge of defeat three times, rallied to pull out a 29-27 victory behind Max Volz and Tucker Peleuses.
