Baseball: Patriot’s Skipworth is Gatorade state player of the year

Catcher Kyle Skipworth of Riverside Patriot has been selected the Gatorade state player of the year.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound senior set a state record with 18 consecutive hits. He finished the season with a .540 batting average, including 47 runs batted in and 13 home runs. He also has a 3.81 grade-point average.
