Baseball: Viewpoint takes early lead in Division VII semifinal

Viewpoint didn’t waste any time getting on the scoreboard during Thursday’s Southern Section-Toyota Division VII semifinal showdown against Avalon at Millikan High in Long Beach.

Matt Schur singled, stole second and scored on a Ben Salzman hit to give the Patriots a 1-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the first inning. It will be interesting to see if the Lancers can answer.
