Newbury Park RB Chris Brown is one of the reasons the Panthers have to be considered a favorite for another Marmonte League title this fall, and it appears the race by colleges to land Brown is hitting full throttle.

Utah has offered a scholarship, becoming the fourth school to official enter the Brown recruiting contest. The 6-foot-1, 189 pounder told Scout.com he has ‘high interest’ in the Utes. Judging by these comments, it looks as if Utah is the early front-runner for his services, though Idaho, Wyoming and Portland State have made offers.

Of course, I’m sure Brown and Coach Gary Fabricius will see more recruiting fan mail in the months ahead. After all, this kid ran for 1,908 yards and 22 TDs to spearhead the Panthers’ march to the Northern Division semifinals. Plus, he’s going to be showing off this weekend at the UnderArmour/Scout.com combine.
