Baseball: Bernstein’s RBI single ties score at 1-1 at Dodger Stadium

A run-scoring single by Eric Bernstein has pushed Simi Valley into a 1-1 tie with Long Beach Wilson heading into the fourth inning of their Southern Section-Toyota Division I championship game Friday night at Dodger Stadium.

Nick Russo scored the tying run and after reaching base on an error. Bruins third baseman Zack Wilson threw the ball into Simi Valley’s dugout on a routine grounder to third, giving Russo a free pass to second. His Cal State Fullerton-bound teammate, Matt Orloff, then moved him to third on a sacrifice bunt.

Wilson had a single for the Bruins, but was left stranded on second.
