Baseball: Simi Valley wins Division I championship

Living off the fat of its three-run ninth inning, Simi Valley secured the Southern Section-Toyota Division I title with a 4-1 victory over defending champion Long Beach Wilson on Friday night at Dodger Stadium.

It is Simi Valley’s first title since it won the Division II championship in 2004.

Simi Valley will play for another Division I title, in softball, against Valencia at 6 p.m. Saturday at Barber Park in Irvine.
