Football: Crespi to start work on new field

Construction of a $1-million all-weather football field at Encino Crespi will begin Monday and should be completed in time for the Celts’ season opener in September.

Crespi becomes the sixth school in the Mission League to abandon grass. In fact, in a show of how times have changed, nine of Crespi’s 10 regular-season games this fall will be played on all-weather fields.
