The third inning just ended, but El Modena fans are already heading for the exits here at Barber Park in Irvine. They are obviously confident that the Vanguards’ 7-2 lead over Glendora will hold up in the Southern Section-Toyota Division II championship game -- either that or they are really cold. I’m cold, but that’s because I left my jacket in my truck.

Even though Times’ staff sriter Martin Henderson has been covering high school softball for this paper since 1993, it wasn’t until today that he found out that ‘The ‘Mo’ in ‘El Mo’ stands for ‘Momentum,’’ he said. The Vanguards have it, the Tartans are trying to get it. I, on the other hand, am just trying to stay warm.
