Riverside Christian pitcher Asia Alvarez will take a no-hitter into the fifth inning.

Alvarez, a sophomore who had a record of 15-0 this season for the top-seeded Cougars, had a perfect game after 3 2/3 innings. A reporter from Alvarez’ coverage area alerted those in the press box to the fact she had a perfect game going, and Alvarez walked the next two batters she faced before getting out of the inning without allowing a hit.

After four innings, Riverside Christian still leads Calvary Murrieta, 2-0, in the Southern Section-Toyota Division VI championship game at Barber Park in Irvine.
