Baseball: Takeyama selected City player of the year

Pitcher Trevor Takeyama of Chatsworth has been selected the City Section player of the year by a panel of sportswriters.

Takeyama, a senior, finished with a 14-1 record and led the Chancellors to their record eighth City title on Saturday with a complete-game five-hitter in a 7-2 victory over Narbonne.

Takeyama walked only 13 batters in 85 innings. He was the winning pitcher in three of Chatsworth’s four playoff victories. He’s one of five Chatsworth players who made first-team All-City.
