Baseball: Ex-Servite pitcher Brown drafted in Round 33

After no Southland player was selected in Round 32 of the Major League Baseball first-year player draft on Friday, Kyle Brown, a left-handed pitcher from UC Santa Barbara by way of Servite High and Golden West College, was selected by the Seattle Mariners Friday with the 1,002nd overall pick during Round 33.

Dan Robertson, an outfielder from Oregon State by way of South Hills, was chosen 1,005th by the San Diego Padres, and Aaron Gates, a left-handed pitcher from Orange Lutheran, was drafted selected by the Colorado Rockies with pick No. 1,007.
