Baseball: Urban Academy hosts Senior All-Star Series

The Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy at Compton College will host the first Southern California Senior All-Star Series this weekend.

Four teams will compete in the goodwill championship series: the North team (northern Los Angeles and Ventura counties), the South (San Diego County), the East (eastern Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside counties), and the West (western and southern Los Angeles and Orange counties).

The teams will conduct batting practice, infield and outfield practice and a home run derby today/Friday from 4-8 p.m. Two games will be played Saturday, with the North facing the South at 4 p.m. followed by the East vs. the West at 7:30 p.m. Saturday’s losing teams will play in a bronze medal game Sunday at 4 p.m., followed by the gold medal game at 7:30 p.m. matching Saturday’s winning teams.

Admission is $3 for adults and free for children 14 and under.
