If UCLA hoops fans thought the 2008 recruiting class was good, wait until the Bruin backers get a load of the 2009 class. It’s beginning to shape up quite nicely considering Reeves Nelson of Modesto Christian gave a verbal commitment back in January and Brendan Lane from Rocklin followed suit over the weekend.

The 6-foot-10, 200-plus pound, junior post player averaged 20.4 points, 11.7 rebounds and 5.2 blocks a season ago for the Thunder. Lane had offers from several PAC-10 Conference programs, but ultimately chose to play in Westwood. Click here for some quotes on the decision-making process.

Jrue Holiday, Malcolm Lee and Drew Gordon headline the 2008 class for UCLA. Throw in Jerime Anderson and J’Mison Morgan and the Bruins have, arguably, the nation’s most promising group of incoming freshmen. Note to the rest of the country: The 2009 bunch is heading in the same direction.
