Baseball: Eight players selected for Aflac game

Eight high school baseball players from the Southland have been chosen to play in the Aflac High School All-American Game on Aug. 9 at Dodger Stadium.

They are pitcher Chad Thompson from El Toro, infielder Matt Davidson from Yucaipa, pitcher Tyler Matzek from Capistrano Valley, pitcher Jiovanni Mier from Bonita, pitcher Brooks Pounders from Temecula Valley, infielder David Nick from Cypress, first baseman Jonathan Singleton from Long Beach Millikan and pitcher Beau Wright from Los Alamitos.
