Not sure what made me think about Osahon Irabor this weekend, but I did. Perhaps it was because, lately, things have been rather quiet on the recruiting front for the senior from Upland. We are, after all, talking about someone who has had Division I scouts buzzing for the past two-plus months.

Come to find out, the low-key demeanor of the 5-foot-11 senior defensive back was a direct result of his taking some additional time to cut down his list of potential suitors from 13 colleges to three. And apparently, Arizona, Arizona State and Nebraska are still in the running for his services.

‘It was hard to narrow it down to three, but it was time,’’ Irabor said. ‘With all the schools that have offered me, I’m very grateful of their high interest in me. My decision is coming very soon, and I wanted to do this out of respect for the other schools and give them enough time to move on.’’

Boise State, Cal and Northwestern were some of the other programs with scholarship offers on the table, a fact that seems somewhat irrelevant at this point. In fact, I would not be the least bit surprised if Irabor makes a decision about his future within a couple of weeks, perhaps sooner.
