Boys’ soccer: LAFC kicks off Development Academy with win

La Canada-based LAFC, which won the Southern California conference in the U.S. Soccer Federation’s inaugural Development Academy to qualify for the finals, beat Atlanta’s Concord Fire, 6-0, Saturday night at the Home Depot Center, taking control of Group B in the Under-17/18 tournament.

Forward Carlos Alvarez, an All-Southland second team selection last season at Salesian, scored three goals, two in the first half (4, 45).
