Robert Smith orally committed to Santa Clara earlier this year. However, the pledge didn’t last very long, not once the 6-foot senior from Perris finally figured out he was one of the Southland’s top point guards. He’s fielding offers once again.

Darius Morris of Windward is regarded by most scouts as the top floor general around. Smith is not far behind. He is slightly more polished than Bishop Montgomery’s Justin Cobbs and Hemet West Valley’s Eric Lawton, making him a more attractive option for Division I programs across the country.

Since Smith changed his mind about attending Santa Clara, several schools have offered him a scholarship, including Cal, Nebraska and USC. It should also be mentioned that Gonzaga, Pepperdine and Virgina are interested and I wouldn’t be surprised to see others join in on all the fun in the near future.
