John Wall is making an early bid for Most Outstanding Player of the Reebok Summer Championships. In two games, the 6-foot-4 point guard who plays for D-One Sports is averaging 26.5 points and 9.5 assists while shooting 54.3%.

And it’s not as if the native of Raleigh, N.C., is carving up weak opposition in the early going. D-One Sports has won both of its games in the Create-N-Finish Cup, an eight-team mini-tournament that showcases the top eight seeds as selected by the tournament committee. The Cup was created to ensure that the best teams get to play each other during the tournament.

Wall and D-One Sports will play in the Cup championship tonight at 8 at Henderson (Nev.) Foothill High against DC Triple Threat.

All of the Cup participants advance to the regular Open division. That’s a good thing for Belmont Shore Coach Dinos Trigonis, whose team has dropped its first two Cup games. Belmont Shore committed 33 turnovers this morning during a 56-43 loss to L.A. Dream Team.

‘We weren’t really awake,’ said Trigonis, whose team is the defending Open division champion. ‘We were very, very sloppy.’
