Stumbled upon an interesting note this morning that would lead most observers to believe San Diego State has emerged as one of the front-runners to receive an oral commitment from Justin Cobbs in the very near future.

However, I don’t think the Aztecs stand a chance. No way, no how.

The senior from Bishop Montgomery is destined for a much more high-profile program, in my humble opinion. For those looking for proof, one need not look any further than this list of other Division I programs recruiting the 6-foot point guard.

Indiana and Iowa, along with Washington State and USC, have offered scholarships and with good reason considering how well Cobbs played in front of scouts during the past couple of months. Cal is another major player.

I’ve got a hunch that he will make a decision about his college years at some point in the next month. And while Steve Fisher and the rest of his staff at San Diego State have plenty to offer, I honestly don’t see Cobbs ending up there.
