It’s funny how coaches are right sometimes... For example, two weeks ago, I asked Corona Centennial head honcho Matt Logan if he thought his new quarterback Taylor Martinez was capable of playing at the Division I level. And the guy with the whistle dangling around his neck responded with a yes, click here for proof.

Turns out, Logan was spot-on with his assessment. Martinez orally committed to Nebraska over the weekend, choosing the Cornhuskers despite the fact that programs such as Hawaii, Michigan State and Washington had recently expressed interest in the 6-foot-1 senior. With his future seemingly set in stone, I imagine there won’t be nearly as much pressure on him to replace standout Matt Scott, the starting signal caller a season ago before he graduated and moved on to Arizona. All he has to do now is continue proving that his coach was right when Logan said Martinez was college-ready.
