Football: San Clemente pitches in

Twenty-three San Clemente football players and several coaches participated in a Habitat for Humanity project on Labor Day. The Tritons worked on a landscaping project at a housing complex in Anaheim that had been built by Habitat for Humanity volunteers. The nonprofit organization has constructed more than 250,000 homes worldwide since 1976.

Participating players included Jake Smith, Jonathon Gerber, William Tober, D.J. Gallegos, Jack Straw, Joey Licavoli, Nathan Myers, Cole Arranaga, Austin Abel, Steve Watts, Mark Vidal, Launtz Miller, Ben Gomez, Brayden Kubly, A.J. Merlino, Ian Lawbaugh, Carson Heagen, Austin Clinkenbeard, Austin Piltingsrud, Joe Wilson, Shawn Lee, Joey Waters and Evan Jacobsen.

The Tritons open their season Friday when they play host to Oceanside El Camino.
